SYMPHONY – The Solo Singing Competition

CATEGORY – INDIAN, WESTERN

Rules and Regulations

1. Team Size: Solo
2. Rounds: Prelim Round, Online Finals
3. Judging Criteria: Pitch, Rhythm, Voice modulation (harkate), Originality, Overall Impact
4. Eligibility: Each participant must be a college student and they should possess a valid college ID card.
5. Deadline for submission: 11.59 PM, 17th December 2020
6. Entries under the two categories will be judged separately and each category will have separate winners.
7. Prelim Round: Common for both categories

o First register for the competition on the D2C website
o Participants have to record a video of themselves while singing
o Audio must be clear and their face properly visible at all times
o The video must be recorded after 1st December, 2020
o Time Limit; 45 seconds - 2 minutes
o Use of karaoke, backing tracks or instruments is not allowed.
o Audio cannot be edited, processed or altered after recording
o Submission:

o Rename the recorded video as “(Full Name) - Symphony’’
o Mail the video to imtgpassion.music@gmail.com The subject of the mail should be ‘Symphony – (Your College Name) - (Your Full Name)’’

8. Finals (Online):

o List of participants selected for this round will be announced through mails after the deadline of eliminations.
o All the finalists will receive all details regarding the final event through E-mail.

9. Rules: For Indian category

o Only 1 entry is allowed per participant
o There is no limit on the number of participants from one college.
o Songs must be in the Hindi Language only
o Genre of the songs can be either Bollywood, Semi-classical or Indie.
o Songs must not be purely classical, although 3-4 lines of classical portions within the song are permissible
o Rap portions or refrains are not permissible
o Original compositions are allowed and may fetch extra points (at the discretion of judges)
o Obscenity (at the discretion of judges) of any kind is not allowed
o Note that the video should not be edited in any way. Use of any kind of special effects are STRICTLY prohibited and will lead to direct disqualification
o Decision of the judges will be final and binding.

10. Rules: For Western category

o Only 1 entry is allowed per participant
o There is no limit on the number of participants from one college.
o Songs must be in English language
o Rap portions or refrains are not permissible
o Original compositions are allowed and may fetch extra points (at the discretion of judges)
o Obscenity (at the discretion of judges) of any kind is not allowed
o Note that the video should not be edited in any way. Use of any kind of special effects are STRICTLY prohibited and will lead to direct disqualification
o Decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Judging Criteria

• Hindi and English poetry would be judged separately, and both the mediums would have one winner and one runner-up each
• Relevance to the theme
• Creativity/Style and Originality
• The coherence of form and structure (harmony of words, presentation)
• Clarity of imagery and language

SAAZ - The Instrumental Solo Competition

Music has the power to move people. There is something exceptional about how the tunes of instruments can cheer you up in every situation. Whether it be the mellow tune of a sitar or the euphonious sound of a guitar, every chord can strike a different emotion. We know, it takes years to perfect that art. So, we present to you an opportunity to mesmerize the audience and let the rhythm flow. Presenting to you SAAZ- an online instrumental competition.

Rules and Regulations

1. Team Size: Solo
2. Rounds: Prelim Round, Online Finals
3. Eligibility: Each participant must be a college student and they should possess a valid college ID card.
4. Judging Criteria: Accuracy of Notes, Rhythm, selection of composition/ original composition, technique, Overall Impact
5. Deadline for Prelim Video submission: 11.59 PM, 17th December, 2020

Eliminations (Online):

1. First register for the competition on D2C website.
2. Participants have to record a video of themselves while playing an instrument, audio must be clear and their face properly visible at all times
3. The video must be recorded after 1st December, 2020
4. Time Limit; 45 seconds - 2 minutes
5. Use of backing tracks is not allowed
6. Audio cannot be edited, processed or altered after recording
Submission:
7. Rename the recorded video as ‘’(Name) - Saaz’’
8. Mail the video to imtgpassion.music@gmail.com The subject of the mail should be ‘Saaz - (Your College Name) - (Your Full Name)’

Finals (Online):

1. List of participants selected for this round will be announced through mails after the deadline of eliminations.

General Rules

3. Instruments can be western or classical.
4. There is no restriction on the genre.
5. Original compositions may fetch extra points (at the discretion of judges)
6. Obscenity (at the discretion of judges) of any kind is not allowed
7. Note that the video should not be edited in any way. Use of any kind of special effects are STRICTLY prohibited and will lead to direct disqualification
8. Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
