Data in the 21st Century is like oil in the 18th Century: an immensely, untapped valuable asset! Deriving insights out of data is a must-have skill in this day and age where businesses rely heavily on real-time and reliable data for making crucial decisions.

The Data Doyen will provide you with a unique opportunity to implement your data analytics skills and challenge your business acumen, by putting you in a real-life scenario and allowing you to perceive the problem with your own lens and come up with breakthrough solutions.



Rules and Regulations

  • 1) All rounds will be virtual
  • 2) Each team consists of 1-3 members
  • 3) Registration starts on 20th November 2021 and ends 30th November 2021
  • 4) All team members should be from the same institute
  • 5) Team members can be either from the first year, second year or a combination of both. All branches of MBA are eligible
  • 6) No participant can be a part of more than one team for the same event. Multiple registrations by the same participant will lead to disqualification
  • 7) Teams should register with a name which does not reflect the name of their B-School or city where the college is located
  • Rounds


    Round 0: Online Quiz-

  • 1) Round 0 will be an online quiz
  • 2) This will be an elimination round
  • 3) There will be negative marking for wrong answers (1 mark for correct answer and -0.25x marks for incorrect)
  • 4) The team leader will play the quiz
  • 5) There will be 20 multiple choice questions to be solved in 15 minutes
  • 6) The quiz will test the knowledge of participants across various aspects of data analytics and statistics
  • 7)Details of further rounds will be communicated to the qualifying teams

  • Round 1: Case Study-

  • 1)Qualifying teams will be given a case study and will have to submit the solution in the form of a ZIP containing the PPT and the Excel/R/Python workings
  • 2)The presentation should not contain more than 10 slides (including the Introduction and Thank You slide) and the last date of submission is 8th December 2021

  • Round 2: Presentation Round-

  • 1)Shortlisted teams will present their case-study solutions to the judges on an online platform
  • 2)The time allotted for each presentation will be 8 minutes followed by 2 minutes of Q&A session by the judges
  • 3)Presentations submitted in Round 1 will be used for the final presentation (No alterations to the PPT would be allowed post submission)
  • 4)Participants should not use the name or logo of their institute in the PPT deck
  • 5)All analysis must be done on Excel/ Python/ R; Maintain the formulas in Excel used to obtain the values
  • 6)The teams must share the working in the Excel workbook/ R or Python source code in a separate file besides the PPT
  • 7)Ensure that the working shown through the Excel workbook/ R or Python source code is organized in a neat manner; Also, the assumptions should be clearly mentioned
  • 8)Final insights should be shown in the PPT; Include all your findings and visualizations, charts, and graphs (if any) in the PPT
